My name is Hannah and I am an Educational Psychologist and the Founder and Director of Eden Psychology & Consultancy Services Ltd. I have been working with children, young people, families and communities for over 10 years.

I have an interest and experience in supporting the emotional aspect of teaching and learning for adults and children, building trauma-informed approaches, supporting parent-child relationships through play, video intervention and narrative approaches and helping professionals develop and progress in their roles. I love to work with groups, teams and managers on team-strengthening, communication and supervision.

What is an Educational Psychologist?

Educational Psychologists (EPs) work with children and young people aged 0-25 who have a range of different needs such as with learning or mental health. EPs are also interested in the personal and professional development and wellbeing of the adults who support children and young people and work alongside them to help them better understand and develop the way they offer support both directly and indirectly. Using an understanding of Psychology, EPs look at how children, young people and adults experience life within the context of their schools, home, families and work environments. They are skilled in thinking about the way individuals think, learn, feel, behave and interact and are trained to support problem-solving and promote growth and development.

My approaches are informed by psychodynamic and systemic ideas which help to consider both what may be influencing a situation from within a person (ideas, experiences, fears, beliefs, the unconscious) as well as around them (interactions, social ideas, systems). The model I think encompasses this thinking is the biopsychosocial-spiritual model which allows us to consider the whole person in a holistic way as much as is necessary. This model is focused on the dynamic relationship between the biological (physical), psychological (mental and emotional), social, and transcendent (spiritual) in a given situation or personal experience.

It is likely if you’ve found us you are looking for support with understanding a concern regarding your child or young person and identifying strategies to move forward. Or maybe you want to be more effective in your role as a parent or professional and are exploring what that might look like. Alternatively, you may be looking for advice or training to increase your understanding about a particular area concerning children and families. Whatever your reason, our goal is to create space to support thinking, to work with you to learn through consultation and assessment, to connect, share ideas and help you grow and move forward.
